Family's are notified only for incidents that result in injury, a change of condition or transport  DON or LALD will inform family of unexpected death.  

Notify DON for: Any death, elopment, falls with injury or any event that results in a life threatening outcome, any VA reportable event

Notify LALD: Building emergency (fire, flood, power outage) Law enforcement outside of EMS any death, elopement and VA reportable events if you can't reach the DON
